"In the past 10 years, the major evolutions of the telecommuni-cations world, mobile phone, broadband access and Internet services, have positively impacted everybody's life in Europe Working Group two-pronged goal is to federate and boost Paris Region’s ICTs ecosystem and to conduct experiments in the field of telecom technologies and services with global visibilities. It rises to the challenge of global competition by offering compa¬nies and citizens new application solutions and helping to set in¬dustry standards. The experiments planned will concretely contribute to the attractiveness of Paris region"

Requirements and new uses

Information and Communication Technologies, both fixed and mobile, are present in the professional and private lives of individuals. The needs are still growing and new video usages are wide-spreading in the telecommunication networks. Minimization of the ICTs ecological impact will be an important research field in the next years.

Users require controlling their communications with high quality, low cost and simplicity that are a challenge for the industry and operators.

The Telecoms Working Group within SYSTEMATIC

  • R&D financed Projects: 41
  • 151 partners including: 86 SMEs - 35 Large companies - 30 Research institutes and universities
  • Total investment: 191.5 M €

 

To account for the technological advances of the last years, the Telecom Working Group has updated its roadmap.

This new roadmap is founded on three major pillars:

  • the Internet of Things,
  • the network impact of Cloud Computing,
  • video services.

To support these three pillars, it is critical to lay solid foundations based on robust high-speed networks with widespread connectivity. A framework for pooling certain key technologies is also necessary in order to produce services quickly at limited development cost.
